Thank you to the families that took the time to respond to the survey in our last edition of the newsletter. We greatly appreciate it!

The survey results were:

The Wellbeing Team will now work on locating some local experts and services to run parent sessions based on your feedback this year.  If you any families have any special contacts in the fields of Autism or Cyber Safety, we would appreciate if you could get in touch with myself (Jamie) to find out more.

Student Support Group (SSG's) Meetings:

Just a friendly reminder that SSG meetings are in week 10 and bookings via Compass have now closed. If you still need to make a booking, please contact your child's classroom teacher. All meetings will take place in the Conference Room in the office with your child's support team, the Classroom Teacher, Education Support and Inclusion Coordinator.

If you are unable to attend or running late, please let us know at your earliest convenience.

Lunchtime Club

Lunchtime clubs help build student engagement, social skills and inclusion for all students. They support students who may struggle with lack of structure in the school playground.

Benefits of running clubs

Lunchtime clubs can have benefits for students and the whole school community, including:

  • improved peer-to-peer and teacher-student relationships and wellbeing
  • a sense of personal empowerment and student voice
  • development of social and emotional skills
  • improved academic achievement
  • positive school climate and increased student sense of safety
  • reduction in playground behaviour incidents.  (www.vic.gov.au)

At Ceres Primary School, lunchtime club runs every day in the Stoneroom on the second-half of lunch (1:40 – 2). We have recently purchased some new resources for students to engage with.

Chickens

We have recently been very kindly donated some chickens for our school from Lily and Jagger Johnson, as well as a chicken coop. They are currently being looked after by Edward, Rach and Jim for which we are very grateful. Soon, a larger area for the chickens to roam will be created and students will be able to enjoy the new addition to our school. More information to come!

Previously, we have raised money for the chickens by selling icy-poles. This money will be put towards the ongoing resources needed to look after the chickens.
