Year 1 & 2

Around our level

Literacy

For Reading lessons, students have continued to read and interpret picture story books. We read a story called ‘The Wrong Book’ about Nicholas Ickle, and completed a piece of writing in response to the story.

In Writing lessons, students have written a narrative story based on a picture prompt. They have also written a recount about the weekend. They have published their writing by typing it.

Numeracy

Last week in Maths, we explored and discovered 2D and 3D shapes. We practiced drawing them, sorting them into different categories, and looked for shapes around the classroom. We used the 2D shapes to make patterns and create pictures. Students have been learning to count backwards and forwards by a given number.

Integrated Studies

Students have continued to learn about how life has changed from the past to now. They have learnt about how communication has changed. They had the opportunity to have a go on a rotary phone.

Wellbeing

Students have been learning about respect and personal strengths.
