Level 3 & 4 Wonga Weekly

Week 6, Term 1

DROP OFF AND PICK UP IN LANTANA

Please be mindful of the road signs on Lantana Road. It is a NO PARKING zone in front of the school, during school start and finish times. To ensure a smooth and safe process, we have a designated pick-up system at the end of the day where a teacher monitors and guides students into cars lined up in the queue. This system works efficiently when there are no parked cars breaching the signage during these times. Thank you for your cooperation.

🌱 LITERACY

Our mentor text for this week will be 'To Have A Friend'. Students will read this text throughout the week with their fluency pair. Using this text as inspiration, they will be engaged in a selection of activities throughout the week, including building their vocabulary knowledge, identifying synonyms and antonyms, and responding to questions about the text.

We will continue to focus on understanding the key elements of a narrative during our Writing sessions. Students will be supported to build stamina to write a short story within a session. They will look at sentence structures, paragraphs and character dialogue.

You can support your child at home by reading favourite stories with your child and noticing key elements of the story, such as the problem, how the problem is solved and interesting words used by the author.

🌱 NUMERACY

This week, students will continue to develop their understanding of place value and key number concepts. They will explore number lines and how they help us visualise numbers and their relationships. Students will also investigate number patterns, learning to recognise and extend sequences. These skills build a strong foundation for mathematical reasoning and problem-solving.

You can support your child by encouraging them to notice number patterns in everyday life, such as counting steps or spotting patterns in phone numbers.

🌱 CBL

This week, we will be focusing on the Guiding Question 'How do we connect with others?'

Students will be placed into cross-grade group with peers who they are not super familiar with. They will then participate in a series of fun, team building activities where they will be supported to make positive connections with their group members.

You can support your child at home by asking them about their CBL group and what they have learnt about different members of the group.

🌿 REMINDERS

🌱 Please assist your child in ensuring that their iPad comes to school every day, fully charged.

🌱 Check that your child has headphones which work and connect to their iPad.
