DROP OFF AND PICK UP IN LANTANA

Please be mindful of the road signs on Lantana Road. It is a NO PARKING zone in front of the school, during school start and finish times. To ensure a smooth and safe process, we have a designated pick-up system at the end of the day where a teacher monitors and guides students into cars lined up in the queue. This system works efficiently when there are no parked cars breaching the signage during these times. Thank you for your cooperation.

SHOWBIE

Teachers are in the process of setting up Showbie. Please make sure this app is updated and installed on your child's iPad. Codes will be coming out shortly and in your child's take home reading log.

 📖✏️Literacy

Mentor Text: Enemy Pie by Derek Munson

This week our mentor text is Enemy Pie by Derek Munson. We will be using this text to delve into the vocabulary of the story. We will also be retelling the story using pictures, words and sentences. As our students have been looking at narratives the past few weeks, this week our students will be writing their own narrative ensuring they are including an orientation (introduction), a problem (complication) and solution (resolution).

What can you do at home?

-When reading stories together notice any interesting words and discuss its meaning, ask is it an adjective or noun?

-Chat and notice any interesting nouns and adjectives around you

-Read your take home book and record how you went with your reading

➕Maths

We are continuing our exploration of place value and focusing on partitioning numbers for example: 32 is the same as 3 tens and 2 ones. We will be continuing to build and record numbers to show multiple representations to numbers.

What can you do at home?

-Read and discuss numbers around your home: how many hundreds, tens or ones are there in that number?

-Play card and dice games that helps with number recognition and fluency

🌏 CBL - Connections

This week we will be focusing on the skills we need to keep friends. We will be working together to come up with solutions to some common 'friendship fires' to begin to build upon our bank of tools.

What can you do at home?

-Discuss a variety of inclusive games that your child could play outside

-Read stories and have discussions around how the characters solve problems and how you could solve problem

Wellbeing

This weeks Friendology session is based on the four 'Friendship Facts', focusing on what is normal in a friendship. Students will fill up those “Friendship Buckets” with trust & respect + help students know what to expect in their friendships!
