Pancake Relay | Years 2-4 Chapel
In Chapel this week, Chaplain Justine spoke to our Years 5 and 6 students about the power of inclusion. Using the story of ‘Zac’, students explored the impact of including and excluding people. Their responses were insightful, and I have included just a couple below.
How do you feel when you are included?
Happy
Like I belong
Safe
How do you feel when you are excluded?
Like I don’t fit in
Angry
Hurt
It was a compelling message about the how our inclusive actions can have such a profound impact on others, including the ability to change behaviours. Just like ‘Zac’, who by Jesus’ actions to include rather than exclude, changed his ‘bad’ behaviour into good. Our gratitude to Chaplain Justine for this important message.
Our Principal, Mr Russell, has already shared the update regarding our IPSHA swimmers. In my address with the Team before departing on Friday, we concentrated on competing to the best of our ability and being a good sport. I am always immensely proud of our students and the way they represent what it means to be a JWACS student when out in the community.

Last Wednesday, we heard from our cyber safety expert, Paul Litherland, as he updated us on strategies and ideas for internet awareness and explored some of the risks students experience in their ‘online playground’. For parents who would like to hear more about this, please make time to attend our Parent Coffee Morning coming up, when Deputy Head of Primary, Mr Teape, will share some of the key messages from Paul’s session.

Our student leaders are settling into their roles, and it was such a pleasure to attend the AngliSchool’s 40th Anniversary Eucharist Service on Friday last week. St George's Cathedral in the city is such a wonderful place to worship and celebrate the AngliSchools journey. Thanks to our Primary Head Boy, Head Girl and Chapel Captain for attending this service with Secondary student leaders.

With NAPLAN underway, the term is flying by. As always, I am appreciative of the parent support we have at JWACS. We get such positive outcomes when we work together through challenges and celebrate shared successes or things going well. Don’t forget our Gratitude and Personal Best Certificates are always available for use!
Take care.

Paul Litherland came to our school last week to talk to the Years 4-6 students about online awareness. Paul was truly knowledgeable and some of the things that he talked about were, if you go online, you must make sure you go through settings with your parents or guardians. He also implied that we should ask an adult about a website you are buying something from to make sure it is not a fraudulent website.
He also showed us statistics of the percentage of how many kids are online today. Paul’s main message was for children to not rush when they are online and before making any decisions to check in with your parent, carer, or a trusted adult first.
We all loved this presentation and found it interesting.
