Celebrating our NAPLAN results

This year, NAPLAN has reported student achievement against four bands.

  • Exceeding: the student’s result exceeds expectations at the time of testing.
  • Strong: the student’s result meets challenging but reasonable expectations at the time of testing.
  • Developing: the student’s result indicates that they are working towards expectations at the time of testing.
  • Needs additional support: the student’s result indicates that they are not achieving the learning outcomes expected at the time of testing. They are likely to need additional support to progress satisfactorily.

Our Year 9 students have demonstrated an outstanding understanding of reading, writing and numeracy in their NAPLAN results this year.  In Reading, 39% of our students achieved an Exceeding result, and 38% of our students achieved an Exceeding result in Numeracy.  These students are provided with enrichment opportunities, both in their core curriculum classes and through our rich elective program in Years 9 and 10. A small number of students achieved “Needs additional support” results in Reading and Writing, and these students are provided with focused, small-group literacy support.

The school continues to have exceptionally high results from our new Year 7 enrolments. In both Reading and Numeracy, over 90% of students achieved results in either the Exceeding or Strong categories. The school sets high academic standards for our students through a rigorous curriculum and demanding learning activities. The students continue to rise to these challenges and kick goals!

We know that the work of our teachers has a huge impact on the achievement of our students, and they deserve to be congratulated for the continued excellence in our students results.
