SRC

The SRC’s project teams have been very busy behind the scenes this term! Read on to discover what we’ve been working on:

The Garden Team: Our team has been collaborating with Ms Shiel-Jones to create a beautifully designed space for the Wellbeing Garden. We are hoping to incorporate elements of Aboriginal design in the garden, such as a yarning circle, to celebrate the spirit of reconciliation.  We are currently putting together the finishing touches of our proposal to the Principal Team.  Watch this space!

The Fundraising Team: This term, the Fundraising Team is selling Cadbury chocolates! Our goal is to sell 20 boxes worth of deliciousness by Halloween. Money from this fundraising project will go towards supporting our sponsor child, Narim Chen, in Cambodia.

The Podcast Team: Despite numerous setbacks since the team's creation, the SRC Podcast Team has finally begun recording our first episode!  It will explore what the SRC is and what each team currently does. We’re hoping to release this episode soon, so keep an eye out for announcements!  If you’d like to suggest an episode topic or even be a guest-star yourself on a future episode, speak to an SRC rep about your ideas.

The School Values Team: The School Values Team has spent Term 3 putting the final touches on their ‘Brain Breaks Box’ project. This project aims to provide all teachers at Box Hill High School with a convenient ready-to-use brain breaks kit in each classroom.  What’s a ‘brain break’, you ask?  This is a term used to refer to quick, game-based activities or critical thinking challenges that can be used to help maintain focus and engagement in the classroom.  This team has worked consistently this year to survey students, determine popular and effective activities, and design instruction cards for teachers to use.  Students will be printing the cards and explaining their project to staff early next term. We are looking forward to seeing the results of this hard work for all students and teachers in the classroom!

HOUSE

The House Prefects have been busy making plans for the 2023 House Champion’s Day celebrations which will take place in Week 1 of Term 4. House and Sport leaders are organising bands and dances for entertainment on the day and are coordinating with other student leadership groups to host the barbeque for the winning house.  Check back in with us next term for photos of the celebration!
