 Learning and Growth Achievements

At Scoresby Secondary College we promote a growth mindset. Individuals who believe their talents can be developed (through hard work, good strategies, and input from others) have a growth mindset. Congratulations to the following students for outstanding learning growth and achievement in Mathematics for term 3.

Year 7 Backyard Assignment

“In our Year 7 maths project, we were making a garden model by:

  1. Designing it using Gardena
  2. Budgeting the costs incurred by your designs
  3. Building the model itself

I was engaged with making the model, Especially using Arduino and LEDs. It was also fun to make the design and think of what the furniture was made of. The greatest challenge was getting the cables not to be seen by the students. Overall, it was fun, interactive, and enjoyable”.

Rayd Rachman

Year 7

“In Year 7 maths this term we have been learning about measurement. For our CAT we had to build a model of a backyard. We had to design it on a website then calculate the budget then finally scaled it up to a 40cm-by-40cm base. We all had a $25000 budget to design it with, which was plenty. I enjoyed making the model the most I loved doing all the painting and just making it in general. We were all excited when we got told that there would be prizes for the best ones, which made us all work harder. In the end there were six people who won prizes. We all really loved it and it was so much fun”.
