This Is Living
On Tuesday 25 July, several Year 10 Drama students and some Scoresby Secondary College staff had the opportunity to see our Media and Drama teacher Ms Maria Theodorakis appear in the play, ‘This is Living’ at The Malthouse Theatre. It was a wonderful experience for the students to not only see a professional example of the naturalistic drama style that they were studying, but also to understand that their teachers have skills, passions, and interests beyond teaching, at which they excel.
The play was extremely engaging, particularly with the intimate layout of the stage, where the audience felt part of the scene. The production team and cast were also very generous with their time, welcoming the students to stay for a discussion and Q&A session after the show. The discussion provided an insight into the process of planning and presenting a play, and the career development of the actors, and it was pleasing to see the students asking engaging questions and listening so respectfully.
Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed the performance, and the students expressed how impressed they were – for some it was their first experience of live theatre, and it made a strong impact!
Congratulations to Ms Theodorakis and her castmates for a very successful run of ‘This is Living’.
