Senior School Report

Senior School Happenings

Throughout this term, our Senior School students have experienced a range of learning opportunities that aim to prepare for further education and employment; including guest speakers, course counselling, world skills and study sessions.

Guest Speaker - Erchana Murrary- Bartlett

Scoresby Secondary College students were very excited to be given the opportunity to meet a World Guinness record holder Erchana Murrary-Bartlett.  Students were given an insight into her achievements and how she demonstrated resilience and determination to run 150 consecutive marathons from the top of Australia to Melbourne, having run 6,330km in 150 days. What a champion!

“I am truly inspired by what she has achieved”

Guest Speaker - Glen Gerreyn

Scoresby Secondary College was very fortunate to host Glen Gerreyn who has spoken to over 500,000 people around the world. He has spoken at the world famous TEDx events, appeared on the Today Show and Can of Worms, and written blogs for Mamamia.com, and has also been featured prominently on ABC national radio.

On Friday the 11 August, Glen Gerreyn came to speak to the senior school students. He introduced himself as the founder of The Hopefull Institute, which is an institution that travels around Australia and the world to help young people to reach their full potential.

He shared his touching story about how his entire life fell apart after he was diagnosed with a rare illness that destroyed his Olympic dreams and ability to function in society. He started The Hopefull Institution with only $2 in his pockets, and it grew into an organisation that helps those worldwide.

After that he began to provide us with a lot of helpful information in regard to motivating ourselves and setting us on the right pathway in life. He did this by giving us a five-step plan to foster our talents. Glen encouraged the students present to create a vision board with their goals for the future so that they can hold themselves accountable.

His overall presentation was extremely engaging, and it’s safe to say that everyone took something out of that session. Glen was enthusiastic about communicating further with the audience to be able to provide more help with motivation and commitment to goals.
