Council Report

Greetings to all members of the Lakeside College community!

The College Board has been very pleased to see the smooth transition that has taken place from the principalship of Mr Brennen to Mr Tassoni this year.

A change in leadership can be an unsettling time for staff, students and families but all indications are that Mr Tassoni has the full confidence of the staff, as he has of the Board which appointed him. The increase in enrolments we have experienced during this term is a testament to the confidence current and prospective parents have in his leadership as well. Together with the leadership team and the staff, Mr Tassoni has ensured that the Christian care for students and the encouragement to them to achieve the best of which they are capable, has remained a major focus of the College. Learn, Care and Achieve!

Thanks to those parents, staff and students who were invited to take part in a survey undertaken recently. The results will inform the Board’s deliberations as it reviews our Mission, Vision and Values in preparation for developing our next Strategic Plan for the College, led by an external consultant. Be assured that our intention to keep the underlying Christian ethos will remain!

What a joy it was for Board members to hear about the caring and compassionate actions of three senior students in helping an elderly lady in distress in a nearby street recently! Such actions clearly witness to Jesus command to ‘love your neighbour as yourself’ and we commend and thank the lads for representing the College so well!

The Board has determined that fees will only rise by 1% next year. This decision has been taken to reflect our concern for the impact of the rising cost of living on families, and we trust it is appreciated by parents and caregivers.

Blessings to you all!

Mal Wegener
