Classroom connections

Pitch Festival
On Tuesday 5th September, a team of the brightest and most innovative thinking students represented CJC at the first ever Interschool Pitch Festival.
It all started back in term 2 when we were invited by Jim from First Pivot to do a pitching workshop. Pitching is all about public speaking, creating a product or idea, and trying to sell it to a panel of judges. Ever since, we have been working on our new idea. We've practised and practised and finally we arrived at Lauriston Girls school to present our pitch to the judges. We were all so nervous because we went first but after all we came second by only half a point. We did really well whoop whoop!! The other schools who participated were De La Salle all boys school, Lauriston girls school (the host), and Our Lady Of Lourdes.
An overview of our concept/idea: Our whole idea was about sustainability - sorting and collecting the plastic waste from pencil cases and classrooms, and setting up a cycle - where this can be remoulded into school-branded products and classroom furniture. Ultimately - our goal is to reduce the amount of plastics going into landfill.
It was a great opportunity and a lot of fun, and we hope one day in the near future to be entrepreneurs, turning ideas into million dollar companies.
