Student Toilets Update

Hello staff, students, parents and carers, we are Sam, Jordan, Aria and Engy. We are giving you a brief update of how the new school toilets are going.

On Tuesday the 20th of February, we were chosen to represent the Year Fives to inspect the new student toilets.  First we met with Richard the architect, Mrs Barletta and Joseph Labagala and they showed us the design and layout of the new toilet block. Richard also showed us the colours that the 2023 JSC decided on for the floors, walls and tiles. Some of the colours were no longer available, so we got to have a say of the new colour choices.

Next we got to wear hard hats and hi-vis vests and go behind the fence to see the new students toilets. It felt a little funny and special. Some people called us 'Bob the Builder'! Behind the fence we met the builders. At first we thought it was a bunch of wood but when we entered we could see the full design and where everything would be.

Somethings to expect when the new toilets will be finished;

  • two doors to enter and exit
  • there will no urinals in the boys toilet and only cubicles
  • there will be floor to ceiling walls and smaller gaps under the doors so nobody can go under them or look over the top
  • the accessible toilet has their own entrance rather than being in the boys toilet
  • sinks, hand dryers and soap dispensers will be two different heights for older and younger students
  • new outdoor waiting area and four new water fountains at different heights too.

It was a really exciting and insightful experience. All going to plan, the toilets should be ready in the start of Term Two.
