3/4 News

Maths

Continuing to explore place value, 3/4 students got creative and built an animal, object or iconic building using MAB blocks. Before creating their masterpiece, students had to estimate the total number of blocks they would use. They then got to work building their subjects and upon completion needed to count how many hundreds, tens and ones blocks were used. From there, they then needed to find the total number of MAB blocks used and draw their creation.

Inquiry

Students practised comparing our culture with others to assist them to learn about how we can treat people from other cultures with respect. There were 4 stations whereby students read about the difference between European Settlers & Indigenous Australians when looking at 'Food, Music, Games & Language', and then added the comparisons and changes of today.

Affective Statements

Affective language and statements is a powerful skill to model ways of expressing our feelings and needs. Naming feelings helps students to develop a larger vocabulary to use words vs. acting out emotions. It also helps students to understand the impact of their actions. 3/4 students came up with some fantastic affective language.
