Cyber Satefy Project: Keeping all members of our community safe!

1:1 Chromebook Program

Students and parents in Year 3, and new families joining our school community,  attended our 1:1 Chromebook Program information workshop. The information session was run by the Team at Cyber Safety and outlined the importance of the program, these being :

  • Greater access to real-time information and digital learning resources
  • Ease of access to classwork both at school and at home
  • Independent, self-initiated learning (students can easily find answers to many of their own questions which also improves their own problem-solving skills in the process)
  • Differentiated learning to meet the needs of the student
  • Collaboration among learners and educators
  • Learning to come alive through the use of visuals, animations, video etc

Cyber Safety

On Monday the 12th of February, Trent and Kristy from the Cyber Safety Project visited our school to talk about the importance of being safe online.

Each learning community was presented with age-appropriate content on what it means to be cyber-safe and how to protect themselves online.

Trent and Kristy made the sessions engaging and informative and gave students the opportunity to be active participants in some very relatable activities.

Check out some of the photos below from the sessions:

As part of a whole school approach to cyber safety, staff undertook a professional development session with the Cyber Safety Project. They were given up-to-date information about changes to legislation in the digital sphere, access to resources to implement in the classroom and information to educate parents at home on how to create a ‘cyber safe’ environment.

Information and Communication Technology Student Access Agreement

In line with our focus on promoting responsible and safe behaviours when using digital technology, in the coming days your child will be asked to sign our Information and Communication Technology Student Access Agreement form. This form is updated and handed out each year as a reminder of how we ensure we use digital technology across our school.

The form outlines our school’s current digital platforms and how these are best used to maximize our student’s education. It covers the school’s digital tools and computer network, how to be cyber-safe safe and the consequences of misuse.

In order to ensure we maximize learning while maintaining safety online it is important that both students and parents are aware of the policy. Attached is a copy of the Information and Communication Technology Student Access Agreement:

Headphones

A reminder to students from Years Prep-6 to bring a pair of headphones to school. This will mean students will be able to listen to and access audio material presented during independent activities across the school day.
