What’s the last great story you encountered?

It may have been a movie you watched – whether real, or fictional.

You may have read a great book lately, or heard a motivational speaker tell an amazing story.

Your colleague at work may tell amazing stories about what they did with their family or friends when they come into the workplace each day.

Each and every one of us tell stories, whether we realise it or not.

Some of our stories we tell others and other stories are stories we tell ourselves.

Each of us have our lives made up of countless stories, and each of our lives are a story, that intersects with the stories of so many others.

At Endeavour College, we have stories of around 750 students and 100 staff mixing together each and every day. Each of us bring the story of our morning: Did it go well? Were we ready on time? Did we have a good breakfast (or not)? Great coffee (or tea)? Did we experience an easy run into school (or not)? – into the mix of everyone else’s morning story. And that’s just one story, that we all tell.

Those stories then become part of the story of Endeavour College.; of good days, and hard days (although they aren’t mutually exclusive); of hope and of dreams, of courage and of love. of wrongdoing, and of forgiveness.

What we all bring to this place gets thrown into the mix of the story of Endeavour.

And something beautiful most often results, when the stories of so many individuals come together in a place like Endeavour.

And it happens because Endeavour’s stories and God’s story is combined. God has been a part of this place since before it officially began. God’s story of love and redemption and grace and dreams and hopes and plans in Jesus has always been, and always will be, a part of Endeavour’s story.

When God’s story, a community’s story, and an individual’s story, combine, great things can happen. Scripture is full of amazing stories of God’s interaction with people and communities.

This year, our prayer is that you will engage more and more with both the story of God and the story of Endeavour, that you may both be blessed, and be a blessing, as we tell our stories together.
