TheArt Room

Week  3 and 4

Another fantastic couple of weeks in the Art Room, with plenty of ooh's and ahhhh's whilst stamping, dotting, playing with paint, mixing colours and experimenting with mark making on canvas, card and paper.

Foundation

Foundation students looked at artist and picturebook writer Bronwyn Bancroft's work for inspiration. We talked about colour and how colours represent temperature and feelings. We used various tools to dot, swipe, scribble and draw on our big papers to create our artworks. Aren't they sensational?!

Grade 1 and 2

Abstract artist, Paul Klee once said..."A line is a dot that went for a walk." Building towers and cities, stamping shapes, drawing lines, colouring with watercolour have given Grade 1 and 2 students countless ways to explore LINE. Paul Klee's Castle and Sun provided the inspiration. Take a look at the creative interpretations!

Grade 3 and 4

Grade 3 and 4 artists are interpreting recipes from our Stephanie Alexander Garden Program into delicate watercolour illustrations. We have all enjoyed choosing a recipe that appeals to us, selecting the various ingredients and equipment listed in the recipes and recreating them into detailed works of art. I can just see these beautiful artworks printed onto teatowels, can you?

Grade 5 and 6

Grade 5 and 6 artists introduction to canvas painting has begun with laying down 'colour fields' inspired by the mid century Abstract artists Jackson Pollock, Willem de Koon and Mark Rothko. The comparison made between Australian contemporary artists Deb McNaughton made for some inspirational interpretations of our own. The Art Room was transformed when the students made their first brushstrokes on the canvas. The focus of each student was remarkable! Next, we add line and shape elements with oil pastel and acrylic paint then out will come the paint pens for detail! I can't wait to see what the students create!

Until next time, stay creative in every way!
