“We would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people, the first people to dream, create, wonder, dance, play and learn on this breathtaking land. This land was cared for and respected for tens of thousands of years. The First Nations people lived in companionship with the animals and the life on this land. We acknowledge that this is stolen land and we pay our respects to elders, past, present and emerging.”
Rayma Atkinson (2023 Suzanne Peterson Award Recipient)
Hello parents and carers of BNWPS, we are very excited to be welcoming you all back! We hope you and your families have enjoyed some rest and relaxation, as well as a little adventure. This brief newsletter contains information relevant to the start of the year and will support a smooth beginning to everyone’s school year.
We will be starting this year with the school wide key understanding: "I am part of a community of learners. At BNWPS we appreciate the uniqueness of ourselves and all people, by living our values of creativity, authenticity, respect and connection." This will provide a context for our teachers and students to build connections with their new classmates and teachers and to consider what their goals might be at the beginning of a new year.
The table below includes our teaching teams for 2024. You will get an opportunity to read more information from our Teachers and Education Support Staff in newsletters throughout term 1.

While Kate McCormack is our ongoing art teacher, she is actually on leave for the first half of this term and we are very excited to announce that Jamie Marcetic will be teaching art while Kate is away.
Many of our students know Jamie from his work at OSHC and/or his time as a student teacher in our school. Jamie is an artist in his personal time and has a strong connection to our students, our community and our approach to teaching. Please make sure you say hi to him if you see him at school!
