Assistant Principal

Religious Education

Ms Janai Sugars

It’s hard to believe we’re already finishing week 3 of Term! As far as starts to the school year go, 2024 has already proven to be busy as students, staff and families are getting back to routines and getting organised for the year ahead. On Friday we celebrated our Opening Mass and Induction of Student Leaders, an important milestone for the leaders of the school including our Year 12 students. I wish them well as they embark on their final year of schooling. We also welcomed our newest students, the Year 7s who have done remarkably well transitioning into college life. We look forward to accompanying them on their six year journey into adulthood.

As for me, I am heading into my seventh year of the Assistant Principal Religious Education role and eleventh year of teaching at St Stephen’s - starting off as a music and mathematics teacher here in 2014. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at St Stephen’s so far and have found the community here to be a special one that has held together through times of celebration and hardship. Coming from a Catholic Education myself, I experienced firsthand the support Catholic schools can offer a family facing difficulties. I encourage families to reach out to the College and let us know how we can help you or another family you know of that could use a hand.

I wish all our students and families every blessing for the 2024 school year.

Regards,

Janai Sugars
