Co-Curricular Activities (From Welcome Letter)

As previously provided in the Welcome Letter/Primary School News, the activities listed in the attached are managed and run by external providers and available for Term 1. Please note for Pre-Prep and Prep students, coaches and staff will collect the students from classrooms and escort them to various activities. Please let your child's teacher know of any after school activities you have booked for your child. 

 

Please be prompt when collecting your child from after school activities.

Foundation Day - Friday 9 February

We are very much looking forward to tomorrow's Foundation Day celebration. Please see attached information which was emailed on Wednesday and published on the App. 

 

This event will be Livestreamed. If you or a loved one are unable to attend and would like to view the occasion, please click on the button below. 

 

'Pal'entine's Day

Celebrate 'Pal'entines Day by wearing a red accessory (eg socks, jewellery, small amount of red face paint) with the summer uniform. Please note no red clothing is to be worn on top of the College uniform. We are not collecting gold coin donations this year. An online payment portal has been set up for you to donate to all six House charities for 2024. Please click on the link below and navigate to College Tours, Excursions and Activities, then House Fundraisers 2024. There is a $2 contribution per House ($12 in total).

 

'Excellent Start' Parent Workshop PP-2

In Week 5, On Tuesday 20 February, Pre-Prep - Year 2 parents are invited to come and learn about our Excellent Start in the early years at Clayfield College. At this workshop you will learn how to support our programs in Reading, Writing, Spelling and Numeracy, by assisting in the classroom and at home. You will find out how to ask comprehension questions following reading, what are reading strategies, ways to practice spelling words, developing ideas in writing, and why number sense is important.

Year 6 Outdoor Education Camp

In Week 7, Year 6 students will attend their outdoor education camp which will be held from Wednesday 5 March - Friday 8 March. Please mark these dates in your calendar, with camp information and requirements emailed to parents. 

Staffing News

Mrs Finney is currently on Personal Leave due to a leg injury. We look forward to welcoming her back soon into Year 2 Learning Support. We are delighted to have Ali Smith working with the Year 2 students whilst Susan is recovering.

 

After ten years at the College, Mrs Robertson has tendered her resignation. We thank her for all of her support and care of the students in her classes and wish Chris all the best in her future endeavours. 

 

We are pleased to have Mrs Skerrett return for Relief Teaching throughout the year. Mrs Skerrett is well known to our students and staff, and they have already enjoyed seeing her on campus.

Care@Clayfield Internet Safety Presentation

Next Tuesday, students in Year 4-6 will be taking part in an Internet Safety presentation with Erin Cash who has a background in law enforcement and investigation, specifically in the field of internet safety. In the evening at 6:00pm, she will be delivering a session for our parent community and I do hope you can join us.

 

External to her law enforcement experience, Erin has applied and developed her skills as a professional speaker and trainer specialising in topics surrounding consent, respectful relationships, effective communication, and personal safety. Her audience varies from adults to children of all ages. Erin delivers keynote presentations and is an author.

 

Erin is married and resides in Brisbane with her husband and two children.
