Dear Parent/Guardian/Carer/Staff and Students,

What a year it has been! A tremendous load of change and achievement at OPS in 2023. This work could not have been done without the support of staff, students and parents and importantly my leadership team. A sincere and warm thanks to you all. In close, I wish all families a safe and relaxing holiday. We look forward to bigger and better things coming in 2024.

Some of our key achievements for 2023 (summary):

• Above state and network NAPLAN results in Grade 3 for Reading, Writing and Numeracy
• Above state and network NAPLAN in Grade 5 Writing
• Above state and network Parent Opinion Survey Results
• Above state and network Staff Opinion Survey Results
• Developed our whole school Instructional Model
• Developed a new whole school Reporting System
• Improved communication through the launch of Compass
• Introduced our new E-newsletter platform
• New School leadership Team
• Facilities upgrade; new laptops for students, new air conditioners in classrooms and new Digital Portfolio TV's
• Hired exceptional new teachers.
• Development of new vision and values as a school 
• Introduced PAT Testing across the school. 
• Student Voice and Agency; SRC committee, student leadership and reward-systems
• Significant School Based Events to improve engagement
• Whole school Curriculum Mapping to improve PLC's and deliver quality teaching
• Set and locked painting work over Summer Break to enhance Middle School and Administration buildings
• Successfully upgraded 2 new toilets
• Enhanced school concerts, assemblies and community engagement 
• New school Website 
• Successfully passing our child safe standards audit and VRQA requirements. 
• Restructure of office duties and administration 
• Implemented consistent behaviour management response
• Successfully received $25,000 grant from VSBA
• Developed new Strategic Plan after Review in Term 1

Emma Vulin Award

Congratulations to Olivia B who received our 'Emma Vulin MP' Award. We wish her all the best as she moves into Secondary School. Olivia you've been a delight for everyone at OPS! Keep up the solid work.

Officer Wooriyan CWA Award

Congratulations to Mitchell W for being the recipient of the Officer Wooriyan Community Award. This is a superb effort. All the best in Secondary School.

School Captain Announcement

It is with great delight that we announce Laksh and Jamo has our 2024 school Captains. We'd like to take this opportunity to also thank Isabelle and McKenzie for all their superb work this year. Thank you for your exceptional work! 

School Interior Painting

Our school will commence interior painting for all rooms of our current (middle school area) including the library and administration buildings. This work is due to commence on the 20th of December and is planned to be completed by 20th of January 2024. We are looking forward to a massive transformation of these sections of our school environment. This work will freshen up those areas and provide inviting teaching and learning areas.

School Exterior Pressure Clean

We have arranged for a thorough pressure clean of all exterior buildings including removal of all lichen across all buildings during the school holidays. We look forward to visiting a sparkling OPS in 2024.

Grade 6 Graduation

A huge thank you to Mr Dezilva and Ms Dyt for their professional setup of our Grade 6 Graduation. We had wonderful night bringing the highlights of the year together. Farewell to all our marvellous Grade 6 students. Good luck on your next big adventure of Secondary School.

Colour Run 

Thank you to Ms Waldron and Tania (from PFA) for leading a super Colour Run event. We had a colourful day and our parents participation made it even better. All the kids enjoyed the splash of rainbow colours on them. Check out the awesome pics on FB.

Room changes 2024

For improved operations at OPS the following adjustments will take place to allow for effective teaching and learning and well being at our school:

Prep, 1 and 2's will move into the present middle school building (complete new painting of all classes)

Grade 3, 4, 5 and 6's will move into the current Junior Building

Specialist classes/Well being Hub will move into the current Senior School Building

Breakfast Club 2024

Please note Breakfast Club for 2024 will commence from the 6th of February.
