Pittwater House is committed to the health and safety of our students and Staff. As such, a new initiative commenced this year that will provide free period care products to students and Staff. A total of 30 sanitary dispensers will be installed around the School’s campus. Twenty were installed last week, with a further ten to come. Dispensers will be installed in all female only bathrooms, all accessible bathrooms, and all unisex bathrooms. By having both sanitary pads and tampons available, students and Staff can make a choice based on their own needs and preferences.

Schools play an important role in promoting a positive health culture and can help to reduce the stigma and embarrassment that can be associated with menstruation. By having access to sanitary dispensers, students can be confident that there will always be period care products available at School. Further, it will help alleviate any worry or discomfort students can experience so they can focus on their learning and can participate in the opportunities available to them.

This initiative was first proposed by our School nurse, Nikki Kuga, and I thank Nikki for her ongoing commitment to improving the health and hygiene practices at Pittwater House. I also thank the Facilities team for their assistance in installing the sanitary dispensers.
