Harmony Day at St Mel’s was a joyful and meaningful celebration of who we are as a community. It was a wonderful occasion that brought together our students, staff and families in a spirit of belonging, respect and unity.
We began with a beautiful prayer liturgy, grounding us in the message that everyone belongs and reminding us of our call to “seek peace and pursue it” in our daily lives. Our choir led us in song with such heart and pride, adding a special sense of joy and reflection to the celebration.
A highlight of the day was hearing students share how to say hello in their home language, with their peers joyfully echoing these greetings back ~ a simple yet powerful act of connection and respect. It was a powerful reminder that our differences are something to celebrate and cherish.
Another special moment being the vibrant parade of cultural dress. Students proudly shared their heritage, with colours, fabrics and stories representing the rich diversity of our community.
Later in the day students took part in cross-age activities, where they came together to share stories, engage in meaningful dialogue and build connections. There was a real sense of joy and openness as students listened to one another, learned from different perspectives, and strengthened their understanding of what it means to live in harmony.
Harmony Day at St Mel’s was more than a celebration, it was a lived experience of inclusion, respect and community. We are grateful for the way our students continue to embody these values each day.

Next week, our students will come together with our cluster schools at St Anne's College for a special day of shared learning and faith formation.
We are looking forward to exploring the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives, with a particular focus on the gifts and fruits of the Spirit. Through prayer, discussion and engaging activities, students will deepen their understanding of how the Holy Spirit guides us to live with love, kindness, patience and courage in our everyday lives.
Gathering as a wider community is always a meaningful experience, providing students with the opportunity to connect with others on their faith journey and to see themselves as part of something bigger. We look forward to a day filled with learning, reflection and connection.

As we prepare for Holy Week/The Easter Triduum, the most significant time in our Church's calendar, we look forward to reflecting & gathering together. Holy Week represents an opportunity for spiritual reflection, community engagement in rituals, and profound moments of learning and connection.
