From the Principal

Megan Richardson

Today I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to sit and listen to our potential leaders for 2024.  Thirty-six young women were brave enough to work through the process, participate in a leadership interview then stand up and present to their peers and teachers.  The College Hall was abuzz with enthusiasm and anticipation as each of our candidates took to the stage. Each speech was a testament to the qualities of leadership, inspiration, and support that define the spirit of our College.

I also wanted to acknowledge those who did not nominate for a leadership position, their support for every candidate, reassurance for those who faltered and sincere interest in every candidate ensures Mount Carmel is well placed to have profound leaders in every facet of  Year 10 next year.

Leadership Qualities that Shine

Every candidate showcased a unique set of leadership qualities, emphasizing the diversity of strengths within our student body. They spoke of determination, empathy, resilience, and the power of collaboration. Our girls understand that leadership is not about dictating, but about empowering others to bring out their best.

Inspiration in Every Word

The speeches were not just about words; they were about the stories behind those words. Each potential leader shared personal anecdotes, challenges they've overcome, and their vision for a better College community. They inspired us to dream bigger, aim higher, and believe in ourselves. These young women exemplify the change-makers of tomorrow.

Support for Each Other

One recurrent theme was the importance of unity and support within our community. Our potential leaders stressed the need for a culture of inclusivity, kindness, and collaboration. They envision a College where everyone's voice is heard, and where no one is left behind. They understand that strong leaders are those who uplift others.

Each candidate's speech revealed a sincere commitment to our College's values and a deep desire to lead with integrity. The leadership speeches were a testament to the incredible potential within our Mount Carmel College community. Our girls are not just students; they are future leaders, change-makers, and inspirations. As we eagerly await the results of the elections, let us all be inspired by these young leaders to embrace the qualities of leadership, to seek inspiration in our daily lives, and to support one another in our pursuit of greatness. I wish them luck in upcoming elections and encourage them to pursue leadership dreams regardless of attaining a more formal position next year.  Our 2024 legacy will be something indeed.
