Child Safety

Catholic schools nurture communities where children and young people’s wellbeing and learning can flourish, enabling environments where child safety is paramount. Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) approaches child safety with vigilance and an ongoing commitment to continuous assessment, action, reflection and improvement (Catholic Education Melbourne 2018).

Child Safe Standard 10 (Ministerial Order No. 1359 clause 14) emphasises the importance of continuous improvement in child safety policies, procedures and practices. This standard specifies requirements for schools to review and evaluate policies, to analyse safety incidents data, and to report on review findings to the school community in order to embed an open and transparent child safe culture.
