Maths Extension

Australian Maths Competition 

This year has seen the establishment of the Boroondara Park PS mathematics extension program. The scope of this program is to provide enhancement opportunities to students who display high abilities in the curriculum strands of Mathematics (Number & Algebra, Measurement & Geometry and Statistics & Probability), as well as aptitude, lateral thinking and perseverance in relation to problem solving.

This year has seen students in grades 3 to 6 take part across a range of challenges and competitions which culminated with the Australian Maths Challenge towards the end of term 3.

Our students performed incredibly well, of the twenty nine entries into the competition our team recorded 17 distinctions and 4 high distinctions; these 4 students placed in the top 3% of entrants for their age category.

These achievements are well deserved and are just the tip of the iceberg of a highly engaging, evidence based approach to the teaching and learning of Mathematics at Boroondara Park.
