Performing Arts
Hi all,
The past two weeks in Performing Arts have flown by! Exciting times are approaching with Christmas on the horizon now…
The Foundation cohort have impressed me (and each other, I’m sure!) as they finished their unit on farm animals. Some individual performances impersonating farm animals were highly convincing and suggest a terrific future on the stage! In Grade 1 and 2, students have compiled their group ideas and performed their soundscapes as a collective. It’s really pleasing to see so much understanding and demonstrated knowledge of musical terminology! They are a truly impressive collective of learners. The Grade 3 and 4 students have been presenting their soundscapes to me, building upon their knowledge and understanding of notation experimenting and applying new and learned symbols. In Grades 5 and 6, students have been similarly extending their knowledge of written rhythmic notation and will have the opportunity for some group performances next week.
As mentioned above, Christmas is in the air with the Boroondara Park PS Annual Christmas Carols set for Wednesday December 6. This community event will be held in the early evening at school with students from all year levels performing with their peers. As such, the focus of Performing Arts lessons turns to learning and rehearsing some old Christmas classics!
Stay tuned until next time.
