Year 5/6 Cluster News Term 4 Week 1

Home Inquiry:

Read for 20 minutes. Reading is to be recorded in student diaries with the book title, page numbers read, and the time read. 

Home inquiry:. 

• Year 6- continue working on research using the lines of inquiry as a support.
• Year 5- continue writing questions and researching into your area of interest.

Maths: Discuss, locate and name angles used in everyday life.  

App

We will be using Teachable machine for our angles unit. Please ensure all students have downloaded this free app.

Exhibition

The year 6 students will be presenting their learning in week 3. Please see attached flyer for the night. We look forward to sharing with you.

Literacy 

Year 6

This week the students have been given feedback on their nonfiction piece of writing. Please take the time to sit with your child to look at their feedback. Some will be resubmitting their work at the end of the week. They should be working on these for homework. 

Inquiry

Year 6

Students have been researching using their lines of inquiry that were written this week. The students spent time in partners sharing what they know about their focus area. Please continue talking to your child about what they know in their focus area. They can share their mind maps that they have created this week.

Year 5

Celebration of learning is Tuesday, week 2 at 6pm. It is an expectation that students attend this night. 

Maths

This week we have begun a new unit on angles. Students have brainstormed the different ways angles are used and where they are seen in everyday life. We continue to practice using protractors and measuring different angles. 

OVER DUE! Graduation Photos

We would like to share a photo gallery of the graduating class on graduation night. We require 2 photos of your child to show how they have grown up into the students we know today. These photos can be emailed to Amy Hughes (hughes.amy@goldengrove.sa.edu.au). Please include a baby photo and first day of school photo. Please have these in asap! 

Just a reminder students need to have a fully charged iPad, a keyboard, headphones, hat and a drink bottle every day.
