BE INVOLVED, BE CONNECTED

I can’t really believe that we’ve come to the end of week 7 already!! Next week, we will have our excursion day on Thursday and Curriculum Day (student free) on Friday. Please note the drop off and pick up locations and times for Thursday. It will be important for children to be dropped off on time so that they don’t miss the bus. Thank you for your support with this.

AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX

Thank you to those families who have been staying in their cars in the ‘kiss and drop’ zone. The traffic is flowing well and our children are staying staff. The addition of a second traffic controller has certainly enhanced safety levels. A reminder to ask your children to meet you at your car in the afternoons, if you choose to use the ‘kiss and drop’. We need to ensure a smooth flow of traffic in the afternoon, too.

From Tuesday morning (19th March), the precinct will go into full ‘lockout’. The fencing will extend around the perimeter of the school and across the mouth of the service road, with security on the gates.  There will be a gate opened to allow the ‘kiss and drop’ zone to continue and a pedestrian gate for those on foot (see photo). Unfortunately, this will be the only access point to the school, inclusive of those needing to access before and after care.

NAPLAN

We are three quarters of the way through NAPLAN, with our final Numeracy test on Monday. The children have done a wonderful job, managing their nerves and trying their best. A huge thank you to Johanne Abbott, who has done a magnificent job of coordinating NAPLAN.

ANNUAL IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

In 2024, we are focusing our improvement work in two areas:

  1. Learning Goal: To improve student outcomes in Reading
  2. Wellbeing Goal: to develop a safe and orderly learning environment

During Term 2, we will share with you the important changes in pedagogy and practice that we are making, in relation to Reading instruction and assessment. We are on an exciting journey into the Science of Reading and our staff have been engaged in extensive professional learning this term. This will continue during our up-coming curriculum day and throughout the remainder of 2024. Our Assistant Principal, Trish Wan, will also be sharing some of the strategies that are being implemented to support a safe and orderly learning environment. Look out for updates in up-coming newsletters.

You can read an overview of the Annual Implementation Plan below.

MORNING GATE CLOSURES

Parents and careers, please note that school gates open at 8.45, with classrooms opening at 8.50am. All gates are closed at 9am, as an important safety measure. If you happen to find yourself still inside after gates have been closed, please exit via the front door in the office.
