Dear Sacred Heart Community

Prayer

"Dear Lord

May I stand in solidarity today with all my brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering. May we be united in your love, and may I work to build your kingdom here on earth."

Amen”

Thank you Monica and Peter

A big thank you to Monica, mum of Amy in Year Four (and our Parents and Friends Group President) for kindly donating a free icy pole to all our students at recess today. Can I assure you Monica that all our students were extremely grateful for your very king gesture.

Can I also thank Peter, grandad of our Year Four student Cody for so kindly organising the replacement of the guttering at the front of the school. This would have been a very expensive job with costs incurred by our school. Thank you so much Peter.

New Students

A big welcome to our two new students in Year Four, Aisha and Mason. We are so happy that you have joined our school. On behalf of our school community, I hope you feel after just one week at Sacred Heart, a real sense of belonging and warm connection with our students.

"Opening Of The School Year" Mass

As mentioned last week in our newsletter, our first whole school celebration for 2024 takes next Wednesday 28th February at 6.00pm with our Opening of the School Year Mass. This is a very special event where we welcome our new Foundation Year students, present our Year Six students with their graduation tops and acknowledge our Year Six student leaders. We would love to see as many families as possible in attendance, as we come together to pray for a successful year for our school community. Kate has more details in her part of this newsletter.

Enrolments Foundation Class 2025

As mentioned in last week's newsletter, enrolments for our 2025 Foundation class officially open on Wednesday 13th March. Current families with a sibling commencing school in 2025 are asked to make contact with Cristina or myself before this date to ensure a position for 2025 (I have already conducted ten tours late last year and so far this year for students commencing school in 2025).

Parents and Friends News

It was great to have some new parents join us for Tuesday's Parents and Friend's meeting. Our first P and F event for the year is helping serve light refreshments after our opening of the school year Mass this Wednesday. If you can help please see Monica or Tendayi.

Classroom Parent Helpers Information Session

Antoinette conducted a classroom helpers information session today. It was so great to see some of our new parents wanting to be involved in the life of the school. If you want to be a classroom helper but missed today's session, don't hesitate to contact Antoinette. Apart from greatly assisting our school, the classroom helper role can be incredibly enjoyable and rewarding.

Room Changes

This week our staff have working feverishly each night to accommodate a room change that has become necessary after the school year has started. We have had to swap rooms for Year 2/3 and Year 4/5. I a big thank you to our students also for being so understanding.

Re: Footpath Closures – Bell Street and Plenty Road Preston

Dear Mark,

I am writing to inform you that the footpath on the corner of Bell Street and Plenty Road will be closed from Wednesday the 21st February to Wednesday 28th February from 7am to 4pm, due to external paint works at The Stolberg Hotel.

In this time there will be signage showing detours and traffic controllers to assist pedestrians. Please see the attached traffic control plan for your perusal and to assist you in communicating this message to your students.

Though we aim for minimal disruption, we do apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you and your students through this time.
