Primary School Swimming & Carnival 

 Learn to Swim lessons have been enjoyable and excitement is building for our up-coming Primary Swimming Carnival on Friday the 15th March (Week 7). A friendly reminder to ensure your child is taking their sun smart swim shirt, and personal sunscreen as required. It is always a wonderful, safe and enjoyable day and we look forward to seeing any parents who would like to come. Parents & Carers are asked to view from outside the LTS pool for easier and safer running of the events. 

 

Students will be transferred from school in a chartered bus and will arrive at the pool at 11am. They will be asked to sit in their house, where they will be supervised by the house teacher. Our Swimming Carnival is about students having a positive attitude, we encourage good sportsmanship and team spirit. 

 

During the day, the students participate in a variety of swimming games, such as Pool Ponies, Treasure Diver, Golden Fish, Whales and Krill and Free Play Grass Games. Conducted from about 11.10 through until 2pm, with a lunch break and some free play, about 1pm to 1:30pm.

 

Lap Swimming for year 5/6 Students in the 50m pool will begin at 2pm. Class 5 and 6 (if time permits then some class 4) students, will be involved in lap running. It shall be compulsory to compete in at least one 25m lap event for all class 5/6 students. Each student can compete in as many lap events desired, time permitting. They can also compete in 50m lap events if they choose to. Different types of strokes include: Freestyle/ Breaststroke/ Backstroke/ Butterfly/ Side stroke/ Survival skull. 

 

If you wish to take your child/ren home from the pool please follow normal school procedures and policy. An email note to the office and class teacher and when picking them up speaking to their class teacher before taking child/ren home. 

 

If you haven't already signed a permission form for the Swimming Carnival, please click the PDF below and email to your teacher or have them hand it to their teacher. 

All students will be transferred back to School from the pool at 2:30pm.
