Principal's Report

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL DINA FIECK

A note from the Principal

In five weeks, The Alice Springs Steiner School will be celebrating the coming of Autumn with the Autumn Festival. On the 4th of April, every student in the school will be involved in presenting the following story.

Autumn Festival

The villagers return from a journey to find the dragon has awoken in their absence. It takes all their courage to overcome their fear of the dragon. First the dragon is attacked by fierce warriors and Roman soldiers. This only makes the dragon angry. It is the harmonic singing that eventually tames the dragon.

The story represents an inner conflict that is most important at this time of year. The dragon is an image of our own fears and darkness and through the story we learn to face this with courage and light rather than violence and might.

How can one be a “peaceful warrior,” taking a stand with courage for a higher truth? This is particularly timely this year as we watch what is happening in other parts of the world.

We have changed the format of our newsletter; I hope you find it more user friendly. We will also be sending out the newsletter on Friday 22nd March and fortnightly on Friday moving forward. To keep the newsletter to a manageable size, and save work for the teachers, we will have articles from only half the classes in the next newsletter and the other half of the classes in the following newsletter.  Please see the "important dates & events" page for up-and-coming school events and for your child’s class events.

Regards,

Dina
