Year One/Two News

Check out what our students have been doing over the past two weeks in the Millie Building! Everyone has been working hard and it has been great to see so many smiles.

In Maths we have been looking at skip counting and got to practise this skill by creating fun chain snakes and going outside to draw our very own hopscotches. We have also been playing ‘addition wars’ and learning how to play fairly with a partner.

In Reading we have started our reading rotations and guided reading groups. We have been looking at some of the ways we can read words that might be unfamiliar to us. This week we have started looking at rhyming words, which has also been lots of fun!

In Writing, we have been looking at narratives, focusing on the beginning, middle and end. It has been fun seeing the creativity from the students when they have changed the ending to a familiar story.

It has been great to see the students continuing their enthusiasm for learning and coming to school settled.
