Year Five/Six News

Yr 5/6 news

Students are excitedly anticipating the two day Sovereign Hill Costumed School experience this Thursday and Friday.  A reminder note was sent home to all students about some key details such as:

  • Please arrive at your classroom by 8.20am, ready for an 8.30am departure on buses
  • Snacks and lunches are to be wrapped in brown paper bags or tea towels (these could be tied with some string).  Please ensure your child’s name is on these packages.  Plastic wrapping is strongly discouraged as the students will be seen by visitors as part of the ‘living museum’.  Alternatively, wrap sandwiches in baking paper or grease proof paper. Send fruit and some biscuits instead of yoghurt and chips.
  • Students are to come to school in full school uniform.  They may bring along the shoes they plan to wear in a separate bag as there will be clothing lockers for them to place their uniforms for the day.
  • Girls should have their hair (if long enough) in two plaits and parted in the middle.  No make up or nail polish is to be worn as they are expected to represent a child living in the 1850s.  This includes watches, necklaces and additional piercings/large earrings.  This also goes for the boys.
  • Please contact the school office if your child is suddenly unwell in the morning of each day – we have a check list of who we are expecting to be on the bus each day.

This is an exciting opportunity.  Many parents (and current teachers) have fond memories themselves of participating in the program.  Please encourage your child to make the most of this educational role play and to enjoy their time at Sovereign Hill.
