Science Report:

Year 7’s have started achieving their bunsen burning licences in the last few weeks. A very exciting time for youngest members of our school.

Unit 1 Physics - "how are light and heat explained?", year 11 students have been investigating how light bends as it passes between different materials.  Through their investigation, they could determine the refractive index of glass, oil and water.  They used this to explain why it is difficult to see glass submerged in oil, but easy to see when submerged in water.

Year 8’s continue to learn about energy, including calculating the energy content of Cheezels by burning them.

Year 9’s are now working on the systems of the body, starting with the exploration of the nervous system.

Psychology students are making nerves to show how the individual nerves interact to create the nervous system.

Year 10 Chemistry are investigating the flame colour of different metal compounds to investigate the electron configurations.

Year 11 Snell’s Law prac
