Vermont Secondary College
Hello Year 9 students, parents and guardians, My name is Mrs Kiri Caracasidis and together with Ms Amira Muhtaseb, we are the new Year 9 Macedon student managers. Collectively with Mrs Kay Bird, year 9 Hotham student manager and Mr Bill Duiveman, year 9 Stirling student manager, we extend a warm welcome to all students, staff and parents of the Vermont Secondary College community.
The start to the new 2024 academic year was certainly positive and well received by all. Our year 9 students began on the 30th of January and quickly settled into their organisational and learning routine. It was wonderful to see friends catching up, sharing laughs and recounting events of their summer break.
Once again, a positive start to the year. Congratulations to all of our returning students. This year is a turning point for our year 9 students! It marks the beginning of the transition into the senior years of the college. Now is the time to grab the opportunities our college offers to grow, develop further skills, seek leadership positions, participate actively in a variety of activities both within and beyond the constraints of the classroom and to forge high level learning strategies to support all aspects of personal and academic growth.
Tune in to your COMPASS Newsfeed and Classroom pages for daily communication of the day’s events and lots more. A friendly reminder that attendance to school is strictly monitored. Students who arrive late to school must sign in at the front office, with a note from a parent or guardian, explaining the reason for the lateness.
We understand that, at times, students will need to leave school early. When the need to do so arises, we ask that students sign out, again providing a note to explain the early departure from school. We also urge all parents and guardians to provide reasons for late arrivals, early departures and all-day absences on COMPASS. It is important that all absences are accounted for, and we thank parents and guardians in advance, for their support. Currently, teachers and students have settled into a smooth school routine.
Students are constructively immersed in their learning and forging good habits. However, we do urge all of our students to ensure that their belongings are secured at all times. We do expect that students without locks, obtain them as soon as possible, to secure their possessions.
Vermont Secondary College prides itself on providing continued support to all students to assist in their learning and personal growth. We encourage positive and constructive partnerships with parents and guardians, to ensure our students are inspired to be their very best. Students and parents should refer to our school website and become familiar with our school processes and expectations.
Communication is key in the support of our students and parents are encouraged to contact either their students’ classroom teacher or coordinator with any concerns or questions. Looking forward to an exceptional year that is 2024!
