Dear Families,
We are quickly approaching the halfway point of Term 3 with no slowing down for the students or the staff. I have spent time over the past few weeks supporting our Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 grades during Mathematics, getting to work with a wide selection of students both within the classrooms and in small-group withdrawal settings. The foundational skills in Mathematics form the basis of all future learning so it is imperative that we get it right at this stage. I want to congratulate the teachers at Ormond Primary School for striving to provide evidence-based practices for our students. Their responsiveness to the strengths, misconceptions and needs of your children are inspirational.
This is the last call for enrolments for our Foundation grade in 2025. Letters of offer have been processed for all enrolments and applications we have received and the final documentation will be completed in the next week. If you would like your child to attend Ormond Primary School in 2025, please contact the office immediately.
I had a walk around the school this week to check in on how the money plants are thriving and found that three of them have sent out pups. This is an indication that they are very happy in their new homes and are receiving the perfect levels of light, warmth and water. Congratulations to Prep M, 1K and the staff who have carefully considered the needs and preferences of their plant over the past few weeks. Most of the other plants have at least grown bigger, thanks to the care and attention of our school community.
I look forward to visiting the classes again soon but, in the meantime, can you spot the pups in these photographs.
Congratulations to the students in Years 3 to 6 who participated in our Senior Athletics Day on Monday, August 5th. They demonstrated persistence and determination in each event. Thank you to Michael Pannam for his organisation on the day, and to all of the staff and parents who supported the students on the day.
Thank you to the 8 households who have completed our Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey over the past week. This accounts for 3% of our school population.
In 2023, a total of 44 responses were received and, while those responses provided important information for School Council and the School Improvement Team, we are hoping to increase that number in 2024. Your feedback will be considered by the team as we plan our future direction so we appreciate you taking 20 minutes to respond. Please click here or scan the QR code to access the survey. You will need to enter our unique school PIN: 274776.
A summary of the feedback will be provided once the survey closes at the end of the term.
We are delighted to welcome Priya to the TheirCare team. Priya started as the service coordinator this week and the team marked her arrival with a coffee cart on Thursday morning. TheirCare will operate on Friday, August 16th for our pupil-free day. To access the system to register and/or book your child into the service, click here.
There was a very pleasing turnout on Thursday morning for Brad and his coffee cart who provided the community with warming coffees to get our day off to the right start. We look forward to many more community events supported by the team at TheirCare.
Ormond Primary School are delighted to be partnering with Real Schools as we continue to build the culture of high expectations. The staff will engage in a full day of professional learning on Friday, August 16th and the team will host a parent information evening on September 12th. Please see the flyer below, including a video from Marion, for more information.
Regards,
Patrick & Aaron
