School News
WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!
Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 29 July to Friday 30 August 2024.
A link to the survey will be sent separately on Compass. All families are invited to participate in the survey.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / caregivers / guardians who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school directly for survey guides in your language.
Please speak to your child’s teacher if you would like more information.
New Addition
During the recent holiday break, the school received the welcome addition of new soccer goals to our sport/play area. No doubt they will be getting a work out over the coming months, especially with the weather on the improve!
Fight MND Fundraiser
Last Friday, our school held a fundraiser for the Fight MND charity. Thank you to all of you who dressed in blue and donated a gold coin. As a school we raised $308-40! What an effort!
How much fun was it to watch our junior school councillors' ‘water’ our brave teachers! Thank you to Mr Nicholls, Mrs Landmeter, Miss Waters, Mrs Burns, Mrs Marslen, Kylie Mann and Ms Middleton for volunteering their time and willing to freeze for our charity cause. What a way to celebrate Principals Day for Mr Nicholls and Mrs Landmeter, thank you for everything you both do for our school, and we hope you enjoyed your special day!
Stay tuned for the next exciting day the junior school councillors are planning for us!
Student Illness
It's that time of year where there are lots of nasty illnesses travelling around the school community.
A reminder that if your child has vomited at home, they must refrain from attending school for at least 24 hours from the last vomit as per DET guidelines below.
In an outbreak of gastroenteritis, exclude until there has not been vomiting or a loose bowel motion for 48 hours, and for all other diarrhoeal illnesses exclude until there has not been vomiting or a loose bowel motion for 24 hours |
If your child has cold and flu symptoms, please do not send them to school. Coughing, sneezing and runny noses will result in a phone call to home/work to collect your child from school.
We appreciate your support in helping us to keep our staff and students as protected as we can!

100 Days of School - Goody Bags
The Parents & Friends Committee would like to congratulate our Foundation Students on achieving their first 100 days of schooling on Wednesday 7th August. We hope you enjoy the goody bags we put together for you.
Thanks to EdComp IT Services for printing achievement awards for students to take home. Thanks also to Callie from Billy & Beau Cookies Trafalgar and McDonald's Moe for their contributions so that our youngest pupils can celebrate by enjoying a few treats.
Well done to the parents who helped find costumes and put together a lunch spread for students, and also to Daryl for putting our new "100 Days" banner at the front entrance to make students feel extra special. Lastly, a big thank you goes to the wonderful foundation teaching team for arranging special games and activities throughout the day.
If any students missed out on a goody bag due to illness, the foundation teachers will keep theirs aside for when they return to school.
Our next meeting is on Wednesday 4th September. If you have any feedback, questions, would like to help out with events or, would like to join our committee, please contact us on tpspandfsecretary@gmail.com.
The Parents & Friends Committee thank you for your support.
Kind Regards

Father's Day Stall Information
The Parents & Friends Committee will be holding their Father's Day Stall on Monday 26th August between 9am-1pm. This year, we have some exciting new gift ideas for students to bring home to their loved ones. Students will have the opportunity to purchase gifts ranging from $1 to $6, with a spending limit of $10 and 2 gifts per student. Flyers will be sent home next week. There will be a second chance stall during recess on Tuesday 27th August for those students still wanting to purchase items for their dad, grandparent, carer or other loved ones. Please ensure money is in a secure zip lock bag to help prevent students losing their money on the day.
Father's Day this year is on Sunday 1st September.
If there are any mums or dads that would be willing to help for either day it would be much appreciated - please contact us to let us know of your interest via email:

National Schools Tree Day
Dear Parents / Carers,
National Schools Tree Day will be held on July 26th this year. Due to several students and staff attending school camps we will aim to have our day sometime soon. We aim to further beautify our school grounds by planting some native trees and shrubs, so, we are putting a call out for donations from our community. If you can donate a tree/shrub or two we would greatly appreciate that.
Please contact Pamela Staff (5/6 teacher) if you have any questions.
