Hi all

On Friday, the boy’s AFL team traveled to Bonbeach Reserve to play in the Kingston Division finals.  It was a very windy day which meant the ball was going to be on the ground a lot.  That played to our strengths as we have speed and love to hunt the ball.  We had comfortable wins against Malvern Central PS (52-0), West Bentleigh (39-0) and Stella Maris (96-2) and earned a spot in the Grand Final.  All victories were against schools that were all district champions.

We had to play Beaumaris North PS in the grand final.  They were last year’s Victorian State runners-up.  After a good early contest our team was too strong in the end, winning 56 to 7.  The boys were great all day, on and off the field, and deserved their spot to compete at the next level.  They should all sleep well Friday night.

The South Metro Finals will be held on Tuesday 6th August at Belvedere Reserve, Seaford.  Thank you to all of the parents that came down to watch and cheer on the team.  Thank you Mrs Gill and Ryan L’ for their help on the sidelines.

In P.E., our Year 3, 4, 5 and 6s have started a Rugby Tag program.   It is a modified, non tackle version of rugby league.  You get to run, dodge, strategise and work as a team just like a real league player without getting poleaxed!

Our younger students are learning and developing their kicking skills for the next fortnight.  They learned about kicking along the ground (like soccer) this week and next week they will be punting (like AFL).

Yours in Sport
