Assistant Principals' Report

2024 NAPLAN Results

Students in Years 3 and 5 have now received their Individual Student Report (NAPLAN Results) which was sent home last week.  It was really pleasing to see our Year 3 and 5 students perform above or the same as schools in our Network. Information about how to read your child's report can be found here - NAPLAN individual student report Information for parents and carers.

Positive Learning Routines:

As we begin Semester 2, we want to continue to emphasise the importance of our students adhering to positive learning routines established this year. Consistent routines not only create a structured environment for learning but also help students develop time management skills and a sense of responsibility. These routines are essential for academic success and personal growth.

We hold high expectations for all our students and by maintaining and following these positive learning routines, students are better equipped to meet these expectations and achieve their best. Your support in reinforcing these habits at home is invaluable, as it ensures a consistent message between school and home, fostering a stronger foundation for your child's educational journey.

Attendance

Regular school attendance is crucial for students' academic success and social development. At Hazel Glen College, we aim for students to be engaged and happy at school each day.

School provides valuable opportunities for learning, skill-building, and fostering relationships with peers and teachers. Frequent absences can disrupt the learning process and can be quite challenging to overcome. Parents and guardians, if your child is away, please log onto Compass to record any absences promptly. This ensures that the school is aware of the student's attendance and can provide necessary support if required.

Students Onsite: Before School

We are noticing that there are quite a number of students who are unsupervised on the school grounds before the day commences. Yard duty supervision times start at 8:30am, and if students are arriving before this time, there is no staff supervision.

Below is some information about our OSHC (Out of School Hours Care) program if you are unable to adjust your schedules to ensure your child arrives after supervision begins:
