The Olympics might be in Paris at the moment, but this year is moving faster than Noah Lyles in the 100m sprint.
Speaking of moving fast, the Year 12s are moving at light speed in an attempt to finish projects and tick off competencies as the end draws near. All students have access to their progress in Trades and Farm courses, and staff regularly inform them of their progress, but if students are unsure, I urge them to get an update to be sure they complete everything that is required.
In the first two weeks of this term, I had the pleasure of joining the Year 11s on their Northwest Tour. From the depths of the Ningaloo Reef (Nyinggulu) to the heights of Mt Nameless (Jarndunmunha), there were many experiences had. It was great to get to know the students in a different setting and share in their adventure, and I thank them for their awesome participation and behaviour throughout the ten days.
Year 11s have now had a week to adjust back into College life, and their attention shifts to the end game. Year 12 subject selections are currently open, and nominations for Student Council are about to be called. In addition to that, Year 11s that apply themselves now and work hard, often find Year 12 easier, proving the phrase "diligence is the mother of good luck."
This term will be as busy as the previous two, but just to be sure we've got some big events coming up. Our College Open Day is on Friday 6 September, a popular event for prospective students as well as industry partners. We will also be attending the Mingenew Expo and Dowerin Field Days, so if you're around make sure you pop in and say hello. Of course, the College Ball on Saturday 31 August gets a lot of attention and promises to be a great evening, but don't let it distract you too much from your studies, particularly those Year 12s with ATAR exams in Weeks 9 and 10.
