MENTAL HEALTH & WELLBEING
Wellbeing at Chilwell
At Chilwell, we are working hard to realise our goals of excellence and equity through developing the learning and wellbeing of every student. Through the integration of these elements, we are building a positive environment and building strong relationships. This enables all students to become:
- Happy, healthy and resilient
- Successful lifelong learners
- Active, informed members of just and sustainable communities.
This is the core work of the Wellbeing Program at Chilwell.
As a staff, we collaborate to seamlessly ensure well being underpins all areas of our teaching and learning. An example of this is regular professional learning for all staff, dedicated meetings to discuss programs and strategies to support student wellbeing, parent professional learning opportunities and responsive programs that build connections and facilitate relationships.
We have invested time and money into programs such as the Resilience Project and Respectful Relationships. The work around this is dramatically changing our school environments with a positive impact on all students. The level of care, expertise and passion our staff have for the wellbeing of every student in our care is having a positive impact on students every day.
We’d like to share some data to support this. This scatterplot is from the Student Resilience Survey conducted by students in Grade 3-6 in March this year. Data, such as this, drives the direction of our wellbeing programs. These programs are structured to be up to date and responsive to student needs.
Wellbeing Comparative Data Continued...
This data set compares student behaviour from Semester 1 (2023) and Semester 2 (2023). Note the grey and orange bars. We responded to this initial data by implementing programs such as Lunchtime Clubs, Peer Supervision and Active Supervision.
We will continue to publish information pertaining to data around wellbeing. Our approach is flexible and responsive to student needs.
Please keep your eye out for further information pertaining to wellbeing at Chilwell.

Chilwell Community Garden Expressions of Interest!
We anticipate needing support to develop our garden area at the Chilwell Community Garden. This will involve building garden beds, shovelling soil, helping to plant seedlings and helping to get our area all set up. If this sounds like something you’re able to help us with, please email catherine.burns@education.vic.gov.au
Thank you!
