Physical Education and Sport
Over the past fortnight, students have been participating in activities and games to learn and practise the following skills/sports:
Prep – Fundamental Motor Skills: gallop and one-foot balance
Grade 1/2 – Gymnastics
Grade 3/4 – Net/Wall games
Grade 5/6 – Modified volleyball games
On Monday the 6th of May, 28 girls from Grade 5 & 6 participated in the Yarra Division Girls AFL Gala Day at Pinks Reserve. This year we again had enough interest to enter two teams! One team won seven games and lost two, finishing third in their pool and narrowly missing finals. Our other team won four games and lost five, finishing sixth in their pool.
The girls all showed true Rolling Hills spirit throughout the day, encouraging each other and modelling outstanding sportsmanship. There were some great kicks, marks and tackles on show too! Thanks to Mr. V and Mark Sfiligoj for coaching the girls, and to Jasmine Mishra for helping. Thanks also to the parents and families who were able to drop in and support the teams.
This term, our Grade 5/6 students are very excited to begin training for the District Winter Sports Gala Day. This will be held on Friday the 21st of June. We will have 9 teams participating across the four different sports: 1 x AFL team, 4 x netball teams, 2 x soccer teams and 2 x T-Ball teams. Once venues are confirmed, more information will be posted on Compass. We will require helpers on this day, to support each of our 9 teams. Please contact me via Compass or email (melanie.layton@education.vic.gov.au) if you hold a current Working with Children Check and can help with your child’s team.
