Eat Up

On Tuesday 30 April our brilliant 5/6 students stunned the team from Eat Up by making and wrapping 1086 cheese sandwiches in a little under 40 minutes! The Eat Up crew had allowed for an hour for the session but didn't factor in the competitive nature of our LEPS crew!

It was a phenomenal effort by our 5/6s who definitely showed our school values of Caring, Cooperation and Personal Best. While one group were buttering the bread and adding the cheese slices, another group were wrapping the sandwiches securely in glad wrap and a third group acted as the 'sandwich runners'. The sandwich runners were responsible for taking the freshly made sandwiches to the wrapping crew and then the wrapped sandwiches to the crates for transport back to Eat Ups outlet ready for distribution to hungry school students in schools across the state.

It was definitely a Proud Principal moment to see our 5/6s perform so wonderfully as a team and to get into the spirit of giving back to the community. Eat Up has been supplying sandwiches to our school for any students who do not have lunch or are having an extra hungry day for over 10 years, so it was incredible to be able to 'pay it forward' and help others in need.

I have included some of the sensational images taken on the day on another page so you can see just how much fun the students had.

School Review

Every four years, government schools go through a process to review how the school is performing and if they met the targets which were set during the previous Review. 2024 is our School Review year and lots of work has been going on behind the scenes for the last six months to prepare for the review.

The Review days are Thursday 9, Wednesday 15 and Tuesday 21 May. On these days, the Reviewer, Natalie Toohey, Anthony Simone (Senior Education Improvement Leader), Keren Barro (Principal of Ashley Park PS), Timothy Cottrell (Principal of Lalor North Secondary) and Carly Georgakopoulos (School Council President) will work with LEPS staff to review our academic results and survey data to help determine our targets for the next four years.

As part of the Review, the panel will meet with students, staff and parents to gain valuable feedback about the things we do well at LEPS and areas for improvement. We would love if you could join the Review Panel members on Wednesday 15 May at 9:00am in the staffroom for an informal chat about our school. Do not worry, this is not a test and there are no wrong answers! We would love your participation!

Mother's Day Stall

A reminder that our Mother's Day stall will be held this week. The main 'shopping day' is Thursday 9 May but students will also have an opportunity to purchase something special for the important females in their lives on Friday 10 May.

There is a wide range of lovely items available for purchase ranging in price from $1 to $10. Thanks to our wonderful fundraising team headed by Carly (School Council President) and Bev for creating this opportunity so our students can say thank you to the special females in their lives.

I hope all the mothers, grandmothers, aunties, big sisters and other significant females in our community who play a nurturing role in our students' lives have an amazing Mother's Day on Sunday 12 May. Definitely a day to ask for an extra cuddle or two!
