Principal's update

Hello everyone,

Here is the newsletter for week nine of term two.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me.

Volunteers

Thank you to the many volunteers that we have at the school. This includes people helping in the library, Breakfast Club, gardening, listening to children read and more. We welcome more volunteers at the school.

Eve has provided some information on the SAKG page about how you can help in the garden classes - no gardening skills required!

To volunteer at a school you require a working with children check. This can be completed for free online.

Semester one reports and parent/teacher interviews

The teachers are currently busily writing semester one student reports. The reports will be published on Compass on Friday 27 June. Parents and carers are invited to attend a parent/teacher interview on either Monday 30th of June or Tuesday 1st of July. You can book a time via Compass from 9.00am on Monday.

Wellbeing

I have added a Wellbeing page to the newsletter. I will use this page to share relevant wellbeing information and resources that we come across that may be useful at home or give greater understanding of some of the language children may come home using from school. I will use the school's website as an archive for the resources for future reference.

Sport uniforms

Today I sent home sports top and shorts with the students who ordered them.

If you would like to order a shirt and/or shorts let me know as I can place another order.

Soccer practice - Tuesday lunchtime

Alex (Perla & David's dad) and Tim (Romy's dad)  are running soccer clinics at lunch time on Tuesday for the next few weeks for children who are interested in practicing soccer skills. Thank you Alex & Tim

Library survey - last opportunity to participate!

Thank you  to everyone who has completed the survey so far.

The library survey is ready to complete!

We would love it if you could take 5 mins to fill it out with kiddos so we can hear from as many of them as possible. We want to ensure the library serves our whole school community. Even if you have a child who is not keen on reading, we would love to hear from you, as having the right sorts of books can go such a long way to changing reading attitudes. If they're not keen on the reading questions, just let  us know what their general interests are. After we compile the results we will look at what we need to buy and where the priority areas in the school are and continue building the collection.

The survey will be open for two weeks. Scan the QR code or follow the link.

It might be a great way to spark a conversation about books, and we all need more of that!

2026 enrolments

We are currently running tours of the school and taking enrolments for 2026.

Next year we expect to be under our enrolment capacity and welcome enrolment enquiries from near and far. If you or anyone you know is interested in knowing more about enrolling at Taradale PS, please contact me.
