Nossal’s 2025 Careers and Pathways Expo – A Wonderful Evening of Inspiration and Connection
Our recent Careers and Pathways Expo was a fantastic evening, filled with energy, enthusiasm, and valuable conversations. A heartfelt thank you to our incredible alumni presenters and panel members for generously sharing their insights and experiences, and to our exhibitors for offering expert advice and encouragement to students exploring future pathways.
We’re also grateful to our dedicated teachers who showcased their learning areas and subject offerings, our amazing student volunteers who warmly assisted guests and staff throughout the night, and all the staff behind the scenes whose efforts made the event possible.
Finally, thank you to our school community for coming along to support the evening — your presence helped make it such a fun, engaging, and meaningful event for everyone involved.
REMINDER: Tertiary institution Open Days running up to early September
Attending Open Day events is highly recommended for Year 12 students planning to undertake tertiary study. They provide unique and valuable opportunities to explore tertiary course options and their graduate outcomes, learn more about courses of interest from academics and current tertiary students, whilst checking out the tertiary institution's facilities and services.
Any student considering tertiary study in the next few years is encouraged to attend Open days – they are a great investment of your time and preparing beforehand will see you benefit the most from your Open day experience. REMINDER: VTAC applications open 4 August for Year 12s
The Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) opens for applications from current Year 12s on 4 August.
Year 12 students have now received a presentation to help them prepare for university applications. I will be running another Year 12 assembly on Thursday 7 August, where I will guide students through how to submit a course application, as well as how to complete the SEAS and Scholarships application – including what supporting documents they may need to organise ahead of the earlier deadlines.
Important information about tertiary applications (both Victorian and interstate) is also shared in the Class of 2025 Careers channel on Teams. It is essential that all Year 12 students turn on notifications and carefully read the posts in this channel to stay informed and up to date.
VTAC Year 12 Guide – Researching courses and applying in 2025
VTAC’s online Year 12 Guide provides helpful information about researching and applying to tertiary courses to assist students in preparing for making an application, including this Quick Reference guide for Year 12 students and postcard with key dates.
VTAC Caregivers Guide
Are you currently supporting a person who is considering tertiary education? This guide helps parents and carers strengthen their knowledge of the application process through VTAC by sharing resources and key advice. If you are a parent or carer of a secondary student, VTAC has compiled this VTAC Parents & Caregivers Guide to help you in your supporting role.
2026 Pinnacle Foundation Scholarship applications now open
The Pinnacle Foundation is a national charity that provides Scholarships and mentoring to LGBTQIA+ students between the ages of 18-27 (in year receiving scholarship) who are planning to study full-time at a public institution of higher education in Australia for the purpose of gaining an educational or vocational qualification in any profession, trade or the arts.
To apply for a Pinnacle Foundation scholarship students will need to meet the eligibility criteria and then complete this online application demonstrating desirable scholar attributes. ComputeFest 2025: Discover Tech studies at UniMelb Parkville campus – Saturday 9 August
ComputeFest is an opportunity for anyone in Year 10 - 12 who's interested in studying a STEM-related degree to get their first taste of tech at UniMelb! If you don't know them yet: CISSA is the largest tech club at UniMelb, hosting events throughout the year for all students specialising in technology and building a community for all tech-lover students! They'll be taking you through:
- Industry Experience in Technology Panel: Join an insightful discussion featuring professionals from leading tech companies as they share their experiences and career journeys.
- Student Experiences in Tech Panel: Discover what it's like to study science and technology at university, with students from disciplines like computer science, data science, and more sharing their journeys.
- Programming Workshops: Cover the basics of Python with their tutors, who will guide you through hands-on coding, step by step, with no prior experience required!

ADFA Open Day 2025 at Canberra campus & Online – Saturday 16 August
Join online or in person for ADFA Open Day to learn about life on campus and how you can receive a fully funded UNSW degree. Don’t worry if you can’t make it in person, you can still attend ADFA Virtual Open Day online. We hear a lot about university being stressful and a big change, but how can we support students going through this? What can we do to ease this transition? What support services can we rely on and what support do universities offer? Hear from current Monash university students about their experiences moving from high school to University, what supports they found helpful, and how this transition can be aided by support people. School is such a big part of your life; you might have mixed feelings as you approach the end of it. You might be excited about your next steps. But it’s okay if you’re not sure about your post-school plans or feeling a bit anxious or overwhelmed about it all.
