Dear Families and Carers,
Welcome to a wonderful Term 4 in our LOTE Chinese language program! This term students will continue to build confidence, connection and curiosity through rich and hands-on learning experiences.
Stage 2 students will be exploring the exciting topic I’m a Tour Guide. They will learn about famous landmarks in China, practise giving descriptive information and use language to guide others through places of interest. Students will take part in visual activities, sentence-building tasks and role play to create their own mini tours and share their knowledge with classmates.
Stage 3 students will be learning about Light and Shadow. Through stories, simple experiments and creative projects, they will investigate the cultural significance of light and shadow puppetry in China. To celebrate their learning at the end of the term, students will create their own shadow puppet performance by combining storytelling, design and performance skills in a fun and memorable way.
We are looking forward to an engaging and joyful term filled with imagination, learning and creativity.
谢谢!Warm regards,
Ms. Gu 古老师
This term, our Year 1 students have been learning about transportation. Students have been exploring different ways we travel in our daily lives. Our topic provides opportunities for students to explore familiar forms of transport around them while using and practising the target language in fun and meaningful ways.
Students have been learning to ask for and give directions using modelled sentence structures and to read and write new words related to different types of transport. They have explored everyday transport such as cars, buses, trains, bicycles, boats, and airplanes, and enjoyed using these new words in conversations with their classmates.
We’ve also talked about the most common forms of transportation in Australia and compared them with those used in other countries around the world. It’s been wonderful to see students make connections between their own experiences and what they’re learning in class.
The students have been engaged, curious, and enthusiastic learners. Their growing confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in the target language is something to celebrate!
We are so proud of the effort and creativity that all Year 1 students have shown this term. Well done, everyone — keep up the fantastic work!
