News from Year Three

Conservation Conference!

Thank you to all of the parents and grandparents who were able to attend our Conservation Conference! It was a huge success and we are so proud of the way that every student spoke so confidently about their chosen endangered animal. We raised $40 for the World Wildlife Fund and after a vote, chose to sponser the Eastern Quoll. The Eastern Quoll is currently listed as endangered on a national level due to significant population declines, particularly on mainland Australia where they are considered extinct. While they persist in Tasmania, even there, their numbers have been decreasing. Thank you!

Here is a recount of the event from Annabelle:

Yesterday we had our conservation conference. We shared our Endangered Animal research.

First, we set up our classroom and put leaves and vines all over the classroom, we put up our posters and decorated our spots. We practiced and got ready.

Next, the grade sixes came into our room and had a look. They were our practice people.

Then all the parents came into the classroom and we started to read our 3 questions. Ivy then handed out cookies! And all the parents were so happy.

My mum was a little late but she came in time! I told my mum about my poster and animal. She was so proud of my work and took lots of pictures.

It was time to leave, so I got my toys off my table and left. But then I realised I lost my toy Walter, he is a whale. But then I found out that my brother had it.

Then we all had cookies. It was the best day ever!

Times Tables

We have been practicing our 3 times tables this term, and it would be fantastic if your child could continue this over the school holidays in some way. There are quite a few free times tables apps and games online or you could have some fun family quizzes around the dinner table!

The Iron Man

Next term we will be focussing on the novel The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. This will run over the whole term and will incorporate our vocab, writing and other areas of Literacy.

We hope you all have a relaxing and recharging break and we will see you all ready for learning in Term 3!
