Primary School News
Dear Families,
We have had a wonderful term full of exciting events, especially in the last two weeks.
Reclink Community Cup
It was such a great day (and freezing), again, a huge thank you to everyone who supported us and made it happen. Community events like these are a significant marketing opportunity for the school, showcasing who we are, what we teach and that we have a wonderful community that comes together and celebrates. If you weren’t able to help out this year, please get involved next year.
Eurythmy concert
Rie and Sumie did a wonderful job of organising this event with two other Steiner schools. I might be biased, but our students did an amazing job.

Whole school music concert
Thank you to Emily Wearne and the instrumental music team for a wonderful concert that showcased the immense talent at Collingwood College.
Grade 5 and 6 Winter Gala
Last week, our grade 5 and 6 students participated in the Winter Gala Day sports against other local Primary Schools, playing Netball, Soccer and AFL. We did exceptionally well in all three sports; congratulations to all who participated. Thank you, Mel, for organising the practice sessions and supporting the event.
Class 4 to 6 Orchestra concert
Another night celebrating the talent and hard work our students put into practising and learn a musical instrument. Thank you to Naomi for all the hard work, passion and love for Collingwood College she has.
Winter Lantern Festival
I genuinely love the winter festival. I love it when the community comes together with beautiful lanterns that flicker with lights and shares stories, eats delicious food, and sings songs. I also love that despite the festival being at the end of the term and everyone being exhausted every year, the lanterns get fancier, and the teachers decided to make another complex lantern. I still can't believe the rain held off, and we managed to do the lantern walk in the 30 minutes it wasn’t pouring! Thank you for coming and for the delicious soups and other offerings.
Collingwood AFLW players
On Tuesday of this week, we were thrilled to have the opportunity to host three players from the Collingwood AFLW team at our school for the first time in a long time AFL footy took over the front oval. There was a lot of excitement, as the kids and teachers had the opportunity to kick a few balls with the famous players. A huge thank you to Brianna Davey, Jordyn Allen and Kellyann Hogan for their time.
I would like to thank the teachers and our Education Support Staff (ES) for their hard work, passion, and care. It’s been a long, cold term, and the students have been tired (as you would know). Our staff are incredibly dedicated and passionate, and this is evident from the learning experiences they plan, the events they organise, and the relationships they have with the children.
I hope everyone has a relaxing term break, quality time with family, and some fun added as well.
Thank you for a wonderful semester. I look forward to seeing you on the first day of term 3, Monday, July 21.
Keep warm,

Making Viking Lanterns for Mid-Winter
Class 4C made Viking lanterns this year for our Mid-Winter festival, using wood, raw-hide or card, and leather, wool or waxed thread. The children used traditional tools to build their frames, and they were able to put their cross-stitching skills from craft lessons to good use, too! As students in year 4 in the Steiner program study Viking mythology, this was a wonderful opportunity to incorporate traditional construction methods, and consider how Vikings would have used and created lanterns in the past. The children were delighted with the results!

Class 5C Ancient Egypt projects
In main lesson Class 5C have been working on their Ancient Egypt projects at the end of Term 2. The topics covered Pyramids, Tutankhamen, Cleopatra, Hatshepsut, Ra the Sun God, The River Nile and Mummification. The students research involved summarising facts and creating paragraphs of their chosen topic with artistic and informational drawings. Two weeks of research, drafting, editing and publishing (and lots of effort and passion!) resulted in our final Gallery Walk with the 5C parent community and other classes invited to see their incredible projects. Class 5C celebrated with morning tea of an Egyptian Rice, Lentil and Pasta dish called Koshari. Well done class 5C students!

Outside Hours School Care (OHSC) - Bookings Now Open for TheirCare
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are pleased to announce that the booking calendar for Collingwood College TheirCare is now open.
To manage your bookings, kindly log in to your parent portal and access your booking calendar located at the bottom of your dashboard. Please ensure that your account is complete for the calendar to appear.
Additionally, we would like to provide you with an update regarding your payments and childcare subsidy.
Typically, we charge your out-of-pocket fees at the end of each week (in arrears). However, as Collingwood College TheirCare is a new service with us, there is a transition period for Centrelink to process the subsidy transfer.
Centrelink is currently in the process of transferring the service, and until this transition is complete, we are unable to determine the exact amount of out-of-pocket charges. Therefore, we anticipate commencing charges once Centrelink has processed the Child Care Subsidy (CCS).
Once the transition is finalised, you will receive a system-generated email prompting you to log into your Centrelink account (via MyGov) to confirm your details for the service, ensuring that the subsidy is correctly applied to your account.
We wanted to inform you of this process in advance, should you be expecting a direct debit or enrolment notice.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our Support Team during office hours at 1300 072 410.
Warm regards,
The Team at TheirCare
