Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Families,
Reports & Parent Teacher Interviews
Teachers are currently working diligently to assess your child's learning in order to prepare their end of semester reports. Reports will be available via Compass on Friday, 4th July.
Parent Teacher Interviews will take place in Week 1, on Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd July, from 3:30pm to 5:00pm. We encourage all parents and carers to book a ten minute interview with their child’s teacher. This is an important opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and set goals for Semester Two. Please book via COMPASS. If you have any questions or need help booking an interview, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.
Our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) Matrix
Our school has recently embraced the School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework—a proactive approach that brings the whole school community together to create a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment. SWPBS helps improve social, emotional, behavioural, and academic outcomes for all students.
Two weeks ago, we introduced our SWPBS Matrix to students across the school. Since then, classes have been actively exploring what the matrix means and how it connects to our school values. Together, we are learning how to put those values into action every day.
Classes have been exploring the SWPBS Matrix in a variety of engaging ways, including:
Exploring how our four core school values are expressed through everyday behaviour.
These learning activities are helping students make clear and meaningful connections between our shared expectations and the way we interact as a school community. It has been wonderful to see students actively engaging with these ideas and taking ownership of their behaviour in such a positive way.
Living Our Values in the Playground
This week at lunchtime, a group of Year 1 students
were playing Hide and Seek when another student asked to join in. Without hesitation, they welcomed the new player and continued the game together. It was a fantastic to see our students embracing the behaviour: 'we accept and include others in our play' from the matrix. It is wonderful to see our students putting our expectations into action in real-world situations.
Attendance
At Maramba Primary School, we believe that every school day counts. Consistent school attendance lays the foundation for academic success, personal growth, and a strong sense of community.
Why is attendance so important?
🌟 Learning Happens Every Day - Each day at school is full of new things to learn! Missing even one day can make it harder to keep up because each lesson builds on the one before. Being here helps you stay confident and ready to grow your knowledge.
🧠 Good Habits = Bright Futures-Coming to school regularly helps you build great habits like being responsible, staying organised, and showing up on time—skills that will help you in high school, your career, and life!
🤝 Stay Connected -School is more than just classes—it’s where you make friends, work with others, and be part of something special. When you’re here, you feel more connected and included.
🎯 Reach Your Goals-The Department of Education and Training (DET) Victoria has found that students who come to school regularly are more likely to do well in their learning and achieve great results. That means more options, more confidence, and more opportunities!
Maramba Primary School- When your child is away
If your child is away let the classroom teacher know through:
If your child has any unexplained absences the classroom teacher will contact you via phone, Dojo Message or an attendance note sent home.
School Uniform Reminder
We would like to take a moment to remind all families about the importance of students wearing the correct school uniform each day. Lately, we have noticed a number of students arriving at school in black shorts, brightly coloured jumpers, and oversized jackets in place of their proper school attire. Our school uniform is a valued part of our identity — it helps foster a sense of belonging, community, and pride in our appearance.
As a reminder, our uniform includes the school polo shirt (available in long or short sleeve), the sports top, navy blue shorts or pants, and the school jumper. Coats or puffer jackets are certainly encouraged for chilly mornings and recess breaks outside but should be removed once students are inside the classroom. Plain, navy blue jumpers without any images or logos are acceptable as an alternative to the school jumper.
Finally, please ensure that all clothing items are clearly labelled with your child’s name. We are lucky to have wonderful parent helpers who regularly check our Lost Property box (located outside the Library) and having items labelled makes it much easier for them to be returned. Thank you for your support in helping maintain our school’s uniform standards and school spirit.
If your child requires an alternative clothing option for any reason, please speak directly with your child’s teacher. Thank you to the parents who already do this — your ongoing support is greatly appreciated.
